Perstorp switches base polyol production to greener grades

In an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its polyol customers and downstream value chains, Perstorp AB (Malmö, Sweden) has announced that it is converting all of its base polyols – pentaerythritol (Penta), neopentyl glycol ( Neo) and Trimethylolpropane (TMP) - converted to Pro-Environment products. From 2023, all fossil fuel-based base polyols produced at the Perstorp plant will be replaced by Pro-Environment products (Voxtar, Evyrone and Neeture) with partially renewable or recycled origin, based on traceable quality balance concept.

Pro-Environment products are ISCC PLUS certified and identical to fossil-based products, meaning they are drop-in replacements. These products benefit customers and the value chain by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting the transition to renewable or recycled materials, in other words supporting the challenge of achieving climate neutrality.

Perstorp already launched the first environmentally friendly polyol in 2010. In 2017, Perstorp announced its long-term goal of becoming finite material neutral. Since the end of 2021, the company has set science-based emissions reduction targets in line with the Paris agreement. The transition to environmentally friendly polyols will significantly reduce Perstorp's use of limited materials and will also provide the market with products with a lower carbon footprint, thus contributing to Perstorp and its customers' achievement of their Scope 3 emission reduction targets.
