Chongqing focuses on the development of new chemical materials such as polyurethane

On March 20, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology issued the Chongqing New Materials Industry Development Action Plan (2023-2025) (Draft for Comments) (hereinafter referred to as the "Action Plan") on March 20.

The Action Plan clearly aims to build a "4+4+N" new material industry system. Vigorously develop the four advanced basic material industries of new chemical materials, advanced non-ferrous metal materials, advanced steel materials and green building materials, focus on cultivating four key strategic material industries of new energy materials, special metal functional materials, a new generation of information technology materials and energy storage materials, and cultivate cutting-edge new materials such as aerogel materials, graphene materials, nanomaterials, and additive manufacturing materials.

The Action Plan puts forward the key direction of expanding and strengthening advanced basic materials and improving the supply capacity of key strategic materials. Among them, it emphasizes the development of polyurethane, polyamide, polyester, high-end olefins, PMMA industry chain, expand the polyoxymethylene and PPS industries, and cultivate and develop PC, ethylene propylene rubber, polyacrylonitrile, polyacrylic acid, cellulose triacetate and other synthetic materials. Actively develop special chemicals and high-purity chemical materials, accelerate the development of new functional coating materials and bio-based synthetic materials, strengthen the promotion of basic chemical raw materials to improve quality and efficiency, and implement the five major synthetic materials industry chain to strengthen the chain extension chain. Vigorously develop wind power materials such as wind power yarns and composite materials, wind power blades, support photovoltaic industry support materials such as photovoltaic glass, modules, solar-grade silicon wafers, and frames, cultivate proton exchange membranes, plates, catalysts, and hydrogen storage materials to support the development of hydrogen energy industry, improve the level of autonomy of the new energy material industry chain, and improve the development level of industrial clusters. By 2025, the output value of the advanced basic materials industry will reach 165 billion yuan, and the output value of the key strategic materials industry will reach 30 billion yuan.
